The development handoff checklist for designers

How to make a FE developer happy? We at Boiling Brains put a bit more effort into preparing designs for handoff than the average design team. We just listened to dev fellas and gave it to them:

• We map task-based scope user flows on a separate Figma page
• We wrap sub-flows into separate sections to keep a modular structure and make Figma page navigation easier
• We add connection arrows with conditions (when necessary), making it clear how user moves from one frame to another
• We add annotations to comment on nuances about content, state, and interactions, eliminating questions and friction during development
• (Optional) If requested, we also maintain an up-to-date master design file where anyone can find the latest design solution of a particular product

It’s not a big deal for us - just part of design process and hygiene, but it makes the development team happy and calm, and we hear “thank you” quite often.
